Website and the archive

Business & Finance is Ireland’s leading business magazine. It also happens to be the oldest business magazine with a rich history that spans over 50 years. During this period, the printed version of the magazine has been very popular in business circles around the world. However, they had a problem within the digital spectrum as they lacked a strong online presence.

Our development solution for Business & Finance magazine included a complete visual redesign of the website and e-commerce platform. Further, we also created a digital archive to accommodate 40 years of magazine issues. Since its (re)launch, these improvements have resulted in a steady rise of readership.

Structure and architecture

This project presented us with an enormous challenge as we had to build an expandable structure that the had the capacity to host all future stories and five decades worth of past issues.

We built a robust new structure that was able to facilitate the connection between articles within the magazine while enabling the publishing of independent posts. Further, we implemented various payment options from single paid articles to monthly subscriptions. We also set up various levels of the access to past years of the magazine’s archive.

Since our optimised solution went live, the number of subscribers increased by over 50% in comparison to the previous periods. The number of weekly newsletter signups also improved significantly and has remained steady ever since. Further, the new engine enables editors to quickly upload the content, structure it, and edit it on the go. This, in turn, dramatically limits maintenance time and enhances productivity.
